Balloon Care & Storage Guide

Balloons are a natural, perishable product, not a hard good. A little care before and after inflation goes a long way toward getting the look and float time you're expecting.

Inflation Guidance

• Inflate latex balloons with helium or air as close to your event as possible — ideally within a few hours.
• For the best float time, ask us about a Hi-Float treatment when you order; it coats the inside of the balloon and slows helium loss significantly.
• Avoid over-inflating. Filling a balloon past its rated size stresses the latex and increases the chance of an early pop.
• Let balloons acclimate to room temperature before inflating if they've been stored somewhere cold — cold latex is less elastic and pops more easily.

Expected Float Times

• Untreated latex + helium: roughly 8–12 hours before noticeable deflation.
• Hi-Float-treated latex + helium: commonly 1–3 days, depending on size and conditions.
• Foil (mylar) + helium: typically 1–2 weeks.
• Air-filled latex (no float): holds its shape for several days to a couple of weeks but is not intended to float.

Heat, altitude, and direct sunlight all shorten float time — plan inflation timing accordingly.

Storage & Handling

• Store uninflated latex balloons in a cool, dark, dry place until you're ready to use them.
• Keep both inflated and uninflated balloons out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources — UV exposure and heat break down latex quickly and cause early popping.
• Never leave balloons in a hot car; temperature swings are one of the most common causes of unexpected popping.
• Sharp edges, rough textures, pet claws, and static from synthetic fabrics can also cause punctures — keep finished arrangements away from these where possible.

Latex & Biodegradability

Our latex balloons are made from natural rubber tree latex, a renewable, biodegradable material. Left outdoors, latex balloons break down at a rate comparable to a natural oak leaf — much faster than foil, plastic, or vinyl decor. Please still dispose of popped balloons and ribbon responsibly (never release balloons outdoors) so pieces don't end up as litter or a hazard to wildlife before they've had a chance to break down.

Why We Can't Accept Returns

Because latex balloons are perishable and their performance depends heavily on how they're stored and handled after purchase, we can't verify the condition of a balloon once it leaves our store — and biodegradable latex products can't be resold.
